Help! I've had 1 fill still no restriction.

Recommended Posts

I have no restriction and I've been doing pretty well so far, but lately, I'm tending to eat more and more. I'm still eating less than I used to, but I can feel myself losing ground. I've been thinking about going back to just liquid for a while. Anyone else experience this? Any susggestions?

I didn't have much restriction after my first fill. I kept seeing everyone talking about being full after 1 cup (max) of food. I just wasn't experiencing this. A month later I went back for another fill - THEN I got restriction :-). Now I know what the 1 cup max thing is about. :-) I still tried to eat the 1 cup even though I didn't feel "full".... but let me tell you, when you have proper restriction, there is no doubt of when you're full. Good luck pumpkin!

Maybe it's time for you to go back for another fill.

I know exactly how you feel, it's very frustrating not to have any restriction at all - that's exactly how I feel for a loooong time now. Even so, I try to force myself to make healthy food choices, but I'm pretty much aware that I'm eating way too much (in quantity terms) and I never feel restriction as I should.

I've had 3 fills and I am currently with 6cc in a 10cc band. Luckily I am having another fill soon (in may). It must be wonderful to have that feeling of fullness with one cup of food!...

It took me 4 fills in a 4cc band before I felt real restriction. Get a fill and if that does not work, get another until it does.

After my first fill of 1cc, I didn't really feel any restriction, nor did I at the 1.5 cc mark. LET ME TELL YOU, last week I was filled to 2 and wowzers! I think I figured out that the band does work :( I had a piece of lunch meat get stuck on Monday night and I was ready to die. WOW. My point is, it took me a bit longer for restriction but now it's working. Good luck :Banane33:

I also have the 10cc band. I have yet to feel the restriction enough that 1 cup of food is enough. I was banded 1/27/06. My first fill of 4cc was on March 8. My second fill 6.5 cc (total) was on 4/4/06. I am going for my 3rd fill on May 2nd. I did feel more restriction after the second fill but not enough.

Now I'm sticking to the low-carb diet and don't get as hungry because my blood sugar levels are steady.

I have lost 23 pounds so far.

Good luck!

A lot of people have posted here that it takes more than one fill...maybe several...to feel restriction, so I wouldn't get too worried about it. Also, you didn't say how long it's been since your one fill...sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for it to kick in. If it's been longer, ask if you can get another fill. My doc makes me wait at least a month between fills, but maybe others don't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
