fill question

Recommended Posts

I had my third fill 2 weeks ago. At first I could barely eat anything. I was barely able to even drink. I had to sip really slowly. After week 1, it gradually eased up. If I eat to fast it will get stuck but there are No real limitations on portions or what I can eat. Does this suggest I need another fill? Or maybe I stretched my stomach area above the band? Anyone have a similar experience?

Whether or not you need a fill has nothing to do with how much you can eat. That band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. This is why it's so important to stick to band sized portions.

Are you satisfied (not full, but satisfied) on a cup or less of food for at least 4 hours? If yes, then you probably don't need a fill. If no, you might need one.

It's always best to discuss it with your doctor and let him help you decide.

It's so important that people realize the band isn't suppose to stop you from eating or keep you from eating certain foods! This could be the reason why people have complications with the band! It could easily result in someone getting overfilled and having their band slip, acid reflux, or constantly throwing up! If you don't know what the band is suppose to do it's hard to use it correctly. Please read more information on the band so you can use it to it's potential. I wish you the best!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
