I am in same boat! I was banded on 3-21 and lost 8lbs since then. Actually gained a pound now and just starting mushies! I know we arent supposed to try to "lose" weight during this time- but I feel like my body is in freakout mode!

If you've been reading this forum for a while you should know you won't be losing fat till you start an exercise program and shrink your calorie intake to about 1000 calories a day. And you won't lose every day or even every week. Our bodies just don't work that way. Right now your body is adjusting to the large amount of fluids pumped into it from surgery and your new dietary programs.

Don't sweat it till you get a fill that gives you some restriction. Almost every new bandster has experienced what you're experiencing.

This is just me but my thought is please don't get addicted to your scale. You will go up and down but as the months go bye you will see the loss if your doing what your supposed to. Your body will hold on to your weight and decide when it wants to release it. Its the overall that counts the daily and weekly do not especially while healing. Keep your eye on the real prize your health and measurements.

TMF is right. Just keep doing what you're suppose to and if the scale freaks you out, STAY OFF OF IT!!!

This surgery works, if you follow the plan and don't give up.

I've been fighting a plateau for a few weeks now, but I know I'm doing what I'm suppose to and my body will catch up.

Stick to the plan. You are still healing from surgery and its unrealistic to expect any weight loss so early in. Drink plenty of Water, walk when you can, and get some rest. You're doing just fine!

My doctor told me that I would plateau on "mushies". He was right. I was banded on 3-22 and have lost 11lbs since then. However, none in the last 4 days. :0(. Maybe the weight loss will increase with my first fill. I'm also increasing my exercising. Keep up with the program. We can do it!!!!

My weight loss halted when I started mushies.....and.....wait for it......I even gained 4 pounds when I started back on solid foods!! I'm not going to lie, I was freaking out a bit, but the nutritionist at my clinic assured me that this was all normal, and it was my bodies reaction to all that had gone on since I started my pre-op diet, so I pushed on, and within a week, I had lost those four pounds and a few more and have been slowly losing since. It is very hard to not be focused on the scale, but if you insist on weighing yourself everyday, try not to let it affect your mood! Congrats on your surgery!

Ditto here. Mushies = screeching halt to the weight loss. Once I was back on solid foods things started picking up again. Don't worry about it at all. Keep on keeping on!

Great thread and an important one for the newly-banded to read. I am also among those who, once I was cleared for mushies, saw my rapid post-op loss stall. It's all good....it's not important what I weigh today; what is important is what I'll weigh next year, and the year after, and the year after....

OMG - I'm so ready for mushies, I don't CARE if my weight loss stalls!! LOL

Tomorrow is my day, and some cottage cheese is looking like a T-bone steak!!!

My suggestion is to not weigh every day. It's not accurate, and if your moods fluctuate based on what the scale says from day to day, DON'T do it! Why put yourself through that? You're following a pretty strict program, and the weight can do nothing but come off. When you think about all the heavy eating prior to surgery, did the scale reflect the gain on a daily basis? Probably not; mine didn't. There were times when I couldn't believe that I didn't gain, based on the heavy caloric load in any given few days. Then a week later, I'd eat a celery stick & gain 4 pounds from the week prior. It works both ways, but so much more difficult to deal with on the way down; SO much more effort than eating what we want, when we want it. Lighten up on yourself......It's ALL good :)

Just keeping doing what you're doing, and don't to be a slave to the scale. The weight WILL come off as long as you continue to follow your doctors directions, and exercise regularly.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
