hockeymother 178 Posted April 2, 2013 What is the criteria to getting a fill? Is it done monthly or is it done only if certain goals are met?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 2, 2013 Every doctor seems to have their own ideas and rules. Generally speaking, most surgeons will ask you about what you're eating and how often you're hungry to decide if you need a fill. They'll also ask if you're satisfied on band sized portions. For me, I have the option for a fill monthly if I need it. If I'm satisfied on a cup or less of food for at least 4 hours, I don't need a fill. If I'm hungry after only an hour or two then I likely need a fill. 4 ☠carolinagirl☠, SaraWalk, hockeymother and 1 other reacted to this

megamomnj 334 Posted April 3, 2013 I think it really depends on your surgeon's criteria. I had surgery on November 6th and haven't had a fill yet. My surgeon only gives you a fill if you have lost less than four pounds in a month. I have been losing more than that so a fill isn't necessary. Some people don't like this way of thinking but it has worked for me. I have lost 60 pounds so far! Rojasanoll 920 Posted April 3, 2013 My surgeon only wants a weight loss of 1 to 2 punds per week . If more than 2 pounds in a week, NO fill. I think I'm close to my fill end with 6.5cc in a 14cc band. All symptoms are indicating after eating a few bites of any food, I fill up quicker on my last fill and stay full longer. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted April 5, 2013 good question and i see it on this forum all the time and a zillion different answers because we all have different doctors. the best answer i can offer you is for you to ask your doctor on their particular fill protocol. 1 hockeymother reacted to this
LeeB1946 261 Posted April 5, 2013 Had my first fill 6 weeks after surgery. I have to be on liquid 2 days after fill and then mushy food for a day or two and then I get to try my first real food in about 1.5 days. My doctor put in 2 cc's of Fluid at time of surgery, then 2 cc's this week. Will go back in one month to see if I need another fill.
