Blender Suggestions Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

Looking for some suggestions for a blender. I really do not have any experience with a blender so this will be very new to me. I'm having my surgery on 4/29 so I'm trying to do some research and get prepared!

Any suggestions that you have will be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, the one I got from costco has 3 different blades, 2 large cups, 2 med and 2 small and a blender pitcher. It was $50. The best part is I use it for many other things than just Protein Drinks.

I grind my coffee, make smoothies, salsa. And, it's compact and fits great o. The counter.

I have 2 Hamilton Beach small blenders. They double as your drinking cup. They are around $15-$20. at Walmart, Target etc. I fit into it 8oz of milk, 2 scoops of Protein Powder and the rest are tiny ice cubes and I make a very thick shake. I have been drinking these for 1 year but my band was July. Good luck with your choices.

Nutri bullet...almost like magic bullet but has bigger motor and can break down anything you put in it. I make green smoothies that taste amazing. 2 handfuls of baby spinach, frozen mangoes, water, Protein powder, some berries, ..very good. U can add seeds nuts etc.

well.... I have a vita mix. It is the King daddy of all blenders and it costs as much. You can even blend veggies up and keep blending until they heat up for Soup. They sell it at costco and online. I have heard the bullet is a good choice. You can put in peanuts nothing else and it makes the most amazing Peanut Butter or any other nuts.

Sorry just reread my post the Peanut Butter was for the vita mix. It can pulverize anything.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
