I looked like that too. I would say its normal. Any questions call your doctor if you think it's really bad. Good luck.

My wife had some bruises like that post-op too. In fact, she was pissed that I didn't even bruise... Lol, the only bruise I had was on my hand from the IV. Vein kept rolling, took 3 tries.

I am going to say the bruising is all dependant on if you easily bruise to begin with.

Normal, and will probably get yellow and bluish even more before they are healed. Best wishes, Karen

I think it looks pretty much like mine - so I hope that's normal. Lol

I had a strange occurrence yesterday. The large port incision started bleeding a little. Not flowing or anything, but spotty blood stains on my shirt. I don't know if I pulled something loose or what. I put a few bandaids on the area. Very sore there still, understandably. I see the doc on Thursday and I'm not so concerned that I need to call him today. Just found it odd that almost two weeks post-op and that wound hasn't healed up completely. I told my husband I just can't sweep the floor or vacuum or any other housework for another couple of weeks. Works for me! :)

Rosie---you are too energetic! Slow down! You probably stressed the site a little too much with all the activity that you do. Believe me, I've got my kids waiting on me hand and foot. :)

My surgeon has told me that if I have any questions about incision site I can email him a picture. I love having his direct email! :) I bruise easily so I'm sure mine will look horrible. Good luck with your recovery!

I'm sure you are right and I am really trying. I have such a hard time not doing anything. One day, maybe, but I always feel I'm going to miss something if I'm not right in the thick of it! :) Several of our hubbies are away golfing for three days so my girlfriends and I are going to play. They will make sure I don't over-extend. Gotta love girlfriends!

Today the bruising is better. Still sore but that's to be expected. Thank you all for being so caring and helpful :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
