I've seen you posting questions about insurance requirements. The ladies in Dr. Mobley's Somerset office totally had their act together as far as getting me approved...knew exactly what my insurance required. They made sure every t was crossed and every eye dotted, and once everything was submitted, I was approved in a few days. Hopefully the staff working on your case will be just as competent.

After my surgery, Dr mobley gave my husband his personal cell phone number with instructions to call if any problems arise. "No question is a stupid question" he said to me. That's comforting to know. He definitely expects you to follow his instructions to the letter, which I am doing my very best to do! Being a Lapband success himself, I believe he knows what he's talking about.

The staff at Dr. Mobley's office are very nice people and Dr. Mobley's assistant told me that I had the most thorough paperwork she had ever seen. I sent them tons of paperwork like my sleep study which diagnosed me with obstructive sleep apnea, blood work that I recently had done which showed I was diabetic, 2 years worth of medical history, 6 months worth of diet info, a referral letter from my family Dr. And some others. And the psych Dr. Gave me the green light to have the surgery done. So everything is going good. Thanks for the reply. It's so good to talk to someone who has had the surgery done by the same folks. Please keep in contact with me, as I may have other questions. Thanks again.

I'm on day 3 of my liquid diet and I have went from 303lbs to 291lbs as of this morning. If this kind of wait loss typical on a liquid diet? Really wasn't prepared for that much of a loss so quickly. And it's kinda messing with my head because the scale says I've lost 12 lbs but I really don't see that much of a difference in my body. By the way, this liquid diet SUCKS!!! I am allowed 4 shakes a day, sugar free pop cycles, and Water. HELP!!

Hi there! I'm not an expert, but I would think that could be very typical... Lots of Water weight list in the first 2 weeks. It will slow down. I remember day 4 being the worst for me...I was soooo cranky! I just kept telling myself that it was temporary and I could get through it. After the first 5 days or so for me, I honestly made it fine. You can do it!!! Once you get all the crap out of your system, you will feel so much better. Call his office if you feel you really need something more... His nurse told me I could also have broth-based Soups and Greek yogurt, but could not exceed 800 calories per day.

I also put the shakes in the blender with ice to make them frothy...seemed to be more filling that way to me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
