1cup of food? Seems like a lot?

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I went and got a fill and saw the fake stomach with the band to show the patients. And the pouch was SOOO SMALL!! My dr says to only eat 1cup(4oz of Protein 1/2 cup veggies) but to me 1 cup seems like WAY to much?

Does anyone else think that? Recently started freaking myself out about stretching my pouch. Yay me...

just stick to your Drs oders and you'll be fine.

Plus it goes threw the band as you eat, thats why you have to eat sloww, so it doesn't back up and get stuck.

The stomach they use for demonstrations is actually the size of a 12-14 year old girls stomach. My NUT explained that to me because I was like "that is in no way big enough to represent my stomach!"

The food passes through the band as you eat if you take small enough bites and chew well. The stoma... portion above the band is not the measure of how much you eat. Just follow your surgeons guidelines and you will be fine.

Search on YouTube for "Lapband fill flouro" . You can see how the Fluid travels past the band in these videos and how crucial it is to completely chew your food too.

here's some tips, hope they help. ... make sure you have what you like on hand - sf Jello - ck or bf broth - sf popcicles - juices - crystal light.... what ever you enjoy. and remember - clears are not forever. you CAN do this. hang in there - take it one day at a time. ....DONT GIVE UP, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!. surround yourself w/those who encourage and lift you up. also - find things you enjoy away from the table - crosswords, tv, reading, anything - jus don't obsess over what you 'can't have' right now.....

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
