The hair loss is common from any surgery. It's something in the anesthetic.

I'm told if you take Biotin for a couple months before surgery it helps. I know the Biotin definitely helps your hair recover after it.

I've been taking Biotin since September and it's definitely helped my hair. I actually just had another surgery on Tuesday (not band related) so we'll see if I have the same Hair loss this time in another month or so.

You can also buy Nioxin (a shampoo) at any beauty supply store or salon. It helps strengthen your hair and make it seem thicker. I didn't lose any hair, but about 6 yrs ago, I lost 30 lbs in 3 months. Lost alot then. My hairbrush looked like a chemo patient everytime I brushed my hair.

I lost hair about 4 months post-op. Went to the dermatologist, and much to my relief, he said I would not go bald. He explained that the body goes into a kind of shock from rapid weight loss. I forget the details, it was a while ago. Sure enough 2-3 months later the Hair loss stopped. Lots of posts have said to be sure to get enough Protein and that Biotin helps. I always got lots of protein and I never took biotin and my hair is back to normal.

Biotin, B50 and Zinc will help with regrowth. There are two culprits here... the actual anesthesia and the rapid weight loss. In my case it all filled back in. Still taking the supplements mind you... you can never be too confident! LOL

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
