I am noticing I am having the most trouble when trying to eat in the morning. I have also been having a problem with mucus. When I am getting

sick , most of the time I am throwing up mucus that has trapped the food I ate. Also things I could eat a few months ago I can't eat without problems now. But again most of the time the mucus is the problem. Is anyone else having issues like this?

Call your doctor and or dietitian ASAP. That doesn't sound good.

That happens to me. It's usually because I'm eating to fast, not chewing and eating something that is dry.

I really don't think it's throwing up, it's clearing the passage to the stomach.

Slow your eating down and chew chew chew.

I've always been tight in the morning with a lot of mucus buildup. I just drink something warm about an hour before I eat. I still have a Protein Shake every morning and don't have any problem as the day goes on. It's just the nature of the beast ( your band beast!).

Agreed

My band is tight in the mornings especially. I stick to Protein shakes or Yogurt and watch my portions. The only other time I run into this is 1 I'm eating too fast and have not chewed well enough.

Slow down and thin it out a little either by chewing better or change whar your eating and how much. Things will get better.

It sounds like you're sliming. Slime is a mucous that coats the esophogus and helps slide food through the sphincter going to your stomach. If you are eating too fast, eating too big of a bite or not chewing enough, your pouch can't move the food through the band quick enough and the food backs up into your esophogus. So you are doing what we call PB. Productive burping. The product of this is slime with food particles that are not chewed properly.

Mornings are diffcult for many of us.

Wow! Thanks everyone. It defiantly seems like what you have all described. I did ask the Dr about it, he said the mucous is too thick to go through the band. I am taking Zyrtec to help with post nasal issues hoping it will help. But generally when I get sick (or need to clear the tube) I am getting the slime. And recently I noticed it was happening more when I first get up.

I'm gonna try the hot liquids first thing and see if that helps. I haven't wrapped myself around the Protein shake yet. But I'm guessing this is going to have to be added to by daily diet. My nutritionist said she prefer I eat my Protein not drink it. But as I am eating a lot less I know I am not getting my daily protein amounts in.

Tight in am is very common. I drink home made shakes and sometimes greek yogurt. I also am a bit tighter when I have a cold or sick.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
