mrsto 2,925 Posted March 28, 2013 I am 7 days post op today and had a hard time drinking much of anything the first 2 days. I just took small sips, and slept so my body could heal. Beef broth was the only thing I could drink a decent amount of- not chicken broth at all! Day 2 I started Protein shakes and spent days 4 &5 with vomiting and nausea...I found that room temperature and warm were AWESOME! Good luck!!! I was really worried about the nausea and vomiting, but knock on wood....haven't had either. I should keep my mouth shut, though.....cuz as SOON as I say something!!! buttercup39 4 Posted March 29, 2013 I used that Miralax around noon time, still no action. someone suggested a warm shower, tried that and still nothing. I walked around the block that helped with some gas. Keep me posted on your status, good luck
mrsto 2,925 Posted March 29, 2013 Miralax takes a couple of days to work. You have to drink it daily. It's slow acting, but it's cramp free and doesn't have any chemical effect on your body. If you want a sure thing, have some liquid Milk of Mag. Take it at night with 8 oz Water, and morning should be a happy time
Bandedlove 10 Posted March 30, 2013 I was banded too on tues (3/26) and the worst pain so far is definitely from the gas pain (it's in my left shoulder and under my ribs) I told the nurse that called to check up on me the day after and she said ooh don't worry it usually goes away after a day...yea right! Its worse than my incision pain..I'm really hoping it goes away soon, but i only seem to be getting it towards the end of the day :/ and are we supposed to be going #2 if we are i guess I'm constipated too lol
buttercup39 4 Posted March 30, 2013 Drink prune juice. It helped. By tomorrow you should feel less pain and relief from gas. Stay positive! This is only one week of pain and a bright future ahead. We are here for you. You can try to juice veggies as well. 1 mrsto reacted to this
mrsto 2,925 Posted March 30, 2013 i drank some prune juice yesterday, and today I got some relief :-) This is my 4th day post-op. I'm sure it's different for everyone. Some at my post-op meeting are having the reverse problem.
