last appt before surgery

Recommended Posts

Today was my last appointment before surgery, it went well and my surgeon is soooooo nice and light hearted, I will be having surgery on Monday, April 1 at 9:30 am....if everything goes well Dr. H said I could leave the next day around 1pm!! Yay!!!! Did any of you have to stay longer, I am just wondering, I have seen a post for lapband with plication, asked if that was something new and he said yes, I asked him what it does and it is like a sleeve with the band and he said you will lose weight faster, I said no, I want it slow as I dont want my gut dragging the floor between my legs...lol....

When I was new on here and looking around, I saw a couple of posts that chastised a person on a pre-op diet and that person left this site, I want to let you know how much I appreciate you and your support for those who felt the same way I did. We come here for support not a lecture, I want you to know that I will be thre for anyon e, even when yu fall, just look me up and message me, I dont want anyone to feel unwelcome in here! Thanks again!

Be Cool and LOVE one another!

One thing: Your gut "dragging on the floor" isn't about how quickly you lose weight. It's genetics, how much you've lost, and your age. I think it's mainly genetics and how much you have to lose. I've lost over 100 lbs and have minimal sagging skin (altho if I could afford a tt, I would probly have one!). While I lost mine over a period of 2 yrs, if I'd have lost it alot quicker, it'd still be the same.

Sorry to tell you that losing it slowly doesn't mean you won't have any saggy skin. While exercise is good for you, burns calories, and tightens muscles, it also won't help with preventing saggy skin.

You can thank your parents for that!

Oh, and welcome to lapbandtalk! Hope your surgery goes smoothly. I also spent the night (I think the majority of people are outpatient) because it was a requirement of Medicare at the time (2009). I'm glad I did cuz not only did I get the good pain meds via IV, but I also had a 3 hr drive home. Would've been mighty uncomfortable.

Praying for you to get the lapband and enjoy the new journey beginning Apr. 1! This is a great tool and you are just beginning to use it! I have not really wanted Tummy Tuck surgery... I have a Csection scar that sort of holds things in place. God is good! Healthy and fit make sense now! Enjoy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
