2 week weight loss post op

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm 1 week 1 day post op and was wondering what everyone ones experience was with the 2 week liquid diet. I have lost 11 pounds but the scale seems to be stuck now and I'm doing exactly what I should. Any others with this is it normal?

It's perfectly normal. It was for me. I lost 12 lbs the first two weeks and then nothing for 3.5 months. The 3.5 months wasn't normal but it took many fills for me to find restriction.

And you should not be concerned with weight loss at this point and not for the first 6 weeks. It's healing time now. Doctors and nutritionists don't tell you in the seminars the whole story. You may not lose fat till you find some restriction. Most weight loss at this point is only Water.

I put on weight after my surgery date. The pre op diet is designed for rapid weight loss. My APRN told me not to worry about it. After my fourth fill I began to see some weight loss. He told me he'd be happy to see a one to 1/2 pound weight loss per week. The best thing I did was joining a gym and getting on the treadmill--that has made a difference. All of my weight loss has been in the past few weeks, three months after being banded!

Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
