Having problems losing weight

Recommended Posts

HI, I was banded in June of 08. I did really great and lost 100 lbs. In Nov of 11 I had a fill but a few days later I was hit with a bug and had to go to the hospital due to being dehydrated. I was seen by 2 interns who insisted I had to have my fill taken out. I kept saying it didn't have to be done, if they felt they had to take some out, just take what the fill amount I just had. but they didn't listen and emptied my band. Since then I have gained 30 lbs I'm stuck at the weight I am now, haven't lost or gained anything. Has this happened to anyone else? Help what can I do to get back to my goal weight... Kim

Get filled back up. Is that possible? That is probably what is going to get you back on track. Good luck.

Hi Kim, did you not follow up with your aftercare team after they unfilled you?

I'd say its time to get back in contact with your team and discuss what needs to be done to help get you back to where you need to be with your band.

I have had fills, I go every 6 weeks. I am at the point I can't have anymore fills, I can't keep anything down if I'm filled more then 7. I never expected to not loose anything once I was at max.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
