Worried about hiatal hernia cost without insurance

Recommended Posts

Basically what my title says. I had some tests done to try to see if I had one, but there's no way of knowing for sure until they get in there.

Anyone know what a hiatal hernia repair without insurance costs?

I don't think anyone could answer the cost without insurance. Your surgeon would know the answer to your question. I didn't know I had a hiatal hernia until after surgery. I had insurance and was told that I had two surgeries for the price of one. Your surgeron may not charge you at all.

My surgeon doesn't charge for it thank goodness. While his is in there he jut fixes it. They told me its a freebie

easier said then done, but try not to worry about something you may or may not have. i had no idea i had one until i woke up from surgery (i had to google it later to even see what a hernia was). i would ask your surgeon/insurance about the costs if that (happens).

Thanks for the info! I'll just have to cross my fingers and pray it doesn't happen!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
