Corn tortillas??

Recommended Posts

I'm Hispanic... And I think I would do better with coping about no flour tortillas if someone can tell me corn tortillas handle well with the band???

I use the low carb tortillas and unless i try to eat them plain, they work out fine with filling if I chew well. Crisp corn tortillas if your must, but chew well. Best would be to wean yourself from them, but I highly recommend the low or carb control versions. I am assuming here that you are on solid foods.

Corn tortillas go down OK with me but corn tortillas are very high on the glycemic index. Maybe one or two a day might be OK but it's similar to a flour tortilla in how fast it's absorbed into your system and can play havoc with your insulin levels.

I just saw that you're only 10 days post op? I wasn't allowed any kind of bread type product till I was 30 day post op?

Oh no no, I'm not trying to eat them right now, but Saturday I am cleared to start eating normally. And Easter Sunday is family dinner.... And I haven't had a tortilla in weeks. But I'm trying to pre plan so I don't look like a spaz in front of my family who doesn't know.

Well, if you eat them, take very tiny bites and chew, chew, chew! I know how you feel. Thanksgiving Day was my first solid food day. Hang in there. You can do it!

Love nachos and I find crispy ones are more band friendly... They don't gum up.... Everything in moderation..

I agree with Ken, crispy and thin is the way to go. I love chicken tacos and often have them. I usually only eat one and it fills me up and is delicious! Good luck, I hope you are able to eat these with no problem because I know much of the food you love probably include those yummy tortillas! Good luck with your Easter Sunday meal, just eat slow, chew a lot, and be aware of how your chest is feeling so you don't overeat and have to vomit. If you feel tightness if your chest, that may be your body saying you are getting too full. Take it slow...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
