Any fellow roadwarriors?

Anyone out there traveling regularly (every week or every other week) for work? How do you cope with the constant temptation at restaurants? How about meals with clients/colleagues? Will be getting banded on May 15th and expect this will be my hardest issue...any advice?

Plan ahead and use Protein Bars where possible. Try for Breakfast meetings, eggs work well. At restaurants go for appetizers, they are smaller servings. Ask for take out boxes up front, and place all but your allocate portion in the box before you start eating. Do you plan to tell people you are banded? It might make it easier for them to understand.

I'm a road worrior, and I'm getting banded in the morning, and I think about this all the time I think the key is planning. I worry about working Markets and how we eat and how I'm going to have to change.......just plan... you can do it!!!

Thank you both for replying! Protein bars never did satisfy me in the past...but perhaps all that will change with the band? It's so difficult trying to imagine how things will be...everyone seems so different..I guess I'll just have to wait and see :-) CindyA, best of luck to you tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to hearing your story! Are you a driver or a flyer? I fly most of the time and boy, those airplane seats are a great motivator :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
