Cant get down Liquids

Recommended Posts

I had a 3rd fill Thursday. I followed the rules and was fine Friday and Saturday. I had a small stuck episode Saturday (yesterday) at lunch but after time it passed and I was even able to eat a few bites of dinner in the evening.

This morning I tried eating a deviled egg (which I had one last night) but the eggs were really cold this morning and I didn't chew very well because I have sensitive teeth. Instantly I was stuck. I was so bad I ended up having to vomit.

Afterwards I was still pretty miserable so I didn't try any drinks even. But now its been about 5-6 hours and I just tried drinking some milk and I am feeling stuck like it won't go down. I took a small sip. It wasn't even a gulp.

Am I just swollen or did I slip? I have no pain inside.

IMO..swollen. You had the trifecta of don'ts for band patients. Swollen from a stuck episode, morning tightness and hard boiled eggs(a very difficult food for many of us).

Stick to liquids until you feel it loosen up and call your doc in the morning if it's not better. liquids are a must or you'll get dehydrated.

Oh trust me I refuse to eat anything remotely solid until this starts feeling better. However I had no idea people had a hard time with hard boiled eggs? That is the first time I have heard that. I am miserable but after drinking some hot Water slowly I feel lime it might be loosening enough to actually get some milk or even broth down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
