That is Fluoroscopy...it is like an action x-ray. The stuff they had you drink was a barium liquid that shows up on the fluoroscope because it is dense.

No, it is a fluro fill. The xray just watches the barium go down to ensure everything is working correctly. The fill liquid is always saline.

I think you're getting mixed up on the wording: The Fluro is an abbreviated form of Fluoroscopy. Hop that helps!

I had one of those the day of surgery, during recovery. I haven't heard about doing another one, but it makes sense.

Yes, it is a fluoro fill...fluoro is short for fluoroscopy. Pardon my pedantry, I am a medical transcriptionist and shortened terms are always expanded in my life, LOL.

No. You just stand up with your back against the Fluoroscopy machine table, they give you the barium to swallow, and then they can SEE if everything is good and your amount of restriction. Its as described above, kinda like a live xray. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended....by me. :)

i havent had a fill yet, but i am glad my dr only does fluro fills.

they do a fluro xray every 3 months (i swallow some grape tasting liquid) and they take a picture of it. i sit in a big dentist chair. they bring a round plate shaped/sized xray to my tummy and snaps a picture. kinda kewl.

I like having a flouro fill, otherwise my surgeon is unable to tell if the Water, or barium is going down. he gave me .25 cc and I was too tight, water took like a minute to go down. The barium only passed when he removed the .25 that he had added. The other way to tell, is he has had people walk around in his office and outside until they had water pass. NOT FOR ME!!! I don't want to be that tight!!Best wishes, Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
