When I was having my ultra sound done, the doc told me I have gallstones. Nothing hurts/bothers me at this time. Is this something my LB surgeon con remove? Should it be removed? Or is it a totally different doc who has to do it? Just curious, since he's already going in..

My own surgeon, also, id gallbladder surgery for my daughter, and fixed things for my son while he was doing lapband surgery for him. My daughter's gallbladder surgery was performed a few months before her lapband surgery, but he probably can and would do it at the same time, check with him/her to see if your surgeon will! Karen

I was banded in November, my band surgeon also did my gall bladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Band surgeons aren't always just band surgeons. Give him a call and check it out, you might be pleasantly surprised. Mine started out as a general surgeon then specialized in gastro, as well as lap band.

Thanks a lot, I'll be seeing him again next week, so I'll definitely ask him

I'm having my surgery tomorrow, and my surgeon will also remove my gallbladder. I have small stones that have been there for a long time, but I elected to have him take it out, to avoid a second surgery down the road. With stones, they're fine until on blocks a bile duct. Then it becomes an acute situation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
