Four and a half months in...

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 11/12/12 and so far I am down 65 lbs.... The first 20 lbs fell off in the first week and a half!!! I am really loving the results so far, I have gotten to a plateau because I have dropped so much so quickly that I don't want to lose too fast and have hanging skin.... I just found this page and I am going to enjoy talking to everyone here and hearing and sharing stories!!!

Thanks everyone!!!! I really look forward to this forum because it is so hard to get to the classes with my schedule.... Protein is the biggest factor in my diet, I usually have a protein smoothie with bananas and strawberries for Breakfast then for lunch a Dannon's lite and fit Greek yogurt(cherry because its the only 1 I like) and a sugar free pudding or applesauce, as a mid day snack I will have a Protein Bar with a SF pudding or applesauce, and for dinner either chicken, pork chops, or turkey burger(plain) with string Beans and mashed taters, for desert it is usually fruit with SF or fat free cool whip.... I try to keep a Water jug with me at all times!!!!

Its great to hear about what you're eating...very motivating. Do you work out much!? I'm so excited to hear that you can lose so much so quickly. I know slow and steady wins the race but an initial big loss must help with the motivation.

Thank you!!!! I do when I get the chance.... I work full time and go to school full time to be a professional photographer so I get exercise when I'm taking pictures and when I am doing school work I put weights on my ankles and do leg lifts!!!! The big loss does help a lot with the motivation because I want to get to my goal of 160- at most 165..... And I have a LONG way to go!!!! My total weight loss will be 190 lbs when I hit my final goal.... But for right now I make small goals of 25 lbs!!!!

You eat just like I do :D Congrats on your success!

I was banded 11-28-2012 and I've lost 66 lbs. I'm ecstatic!! My losing has slowed down too, but I knew it would and I don't mind. I'm an entirely different person!

I'm also happy to be on this forum. Its the best by far!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
