I was told I would have 3 incisions, one in my belly button and two more small ones. When I got home I realized I have 5 incisions all above my belly button. Anyone else????

I'm just wondering why they did 5 instead if 3?

I actually have six. But I think 5/6 is standard. I was surprised you were told they would be small. Just think about the size of the band and port. Opening has to be big enough to get them in. I'm three months out and my three large ones are very visible. But I'm very fair skinned and I have 20 yr old scars that still show so I expected to have them.

Probably needed additional tools to hold back organs/fat. As mentioned above the little incisions are practically invisible in a few months.

That's a question I have as well. I actually have six, five above my belly button and one tiny one at my belly button. That's a question for my post op check up

I had six... besides the four for my previous gallbladder surgery. I look like I've been sliced and diced... just glad I'm too old to wear a bikini... even if I'd never had a weight problem. Skin just reaches an age that it is much prettier covered than exposed!!!

I only have three, the one above my port is the longest, about an inch long, the other two are fairly small. I wonder why the surgeons do things so differently??

I have 3 little and one larger. One was for hiatal hernia repair. Don't see the small ones at all one year out.

Ya one of them is a larger one. I have had laparoscopic surgery 4 Times before do when they explained it initially I understood. So wasn't expecting 5 incisions lol

I got 4 incisions, never touched my belly button and fixed the hernia too. It has to do with the position of your organs and routing of the band with the tubing.

I thought I had 5 but as the sutures dissolve I actually found a sixth one that was so small they'd just used one suture to cover it and another one less than an inch away

Didn't get sutures, they used dermabond instead. Nothing like good ole super glue.... Lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
