I was told I would have 3 incisions, one in my belly button and two more small ones. When I got home I realized I have 5 incisions all above my belly button. Anyone else????

If you had a hernia, sometimes additional small holes are needed for the repair and to get the right angle for repairing.

I have five; three little ones and two larger ones. All are grouped to my left side (thankfully, so I can sleep on my right side currently). They are pretty high up, too, nowhere near my belly button. It is funny how surgeons go in differently, isn't it? You'd think our stomachs would all be accessed by the same areas.

(1 above my belly button which is where they put the port and it's about an 1 1/2 inches) one is right below my ribs which is about a 1/4 inch which is where they put the liver retractor, then 3-1/2 inch incisions (2) on the right side of my port (1) on the left

They used steri strips instead of stitches or glue.

Did they actually tell you that? Or are you going based on what you see? I have 5 incisions. They were held together by internal dissolvable stiches and fill with dermabond to close nicely and the larger ones were held together with stri strips for extra closure.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
