Hey ya'll. I was banded Thursday morning. I'm doing pretty well. Took a shower today YAY. Never took the high test pain meds, didn't need them. Tylenol took the edge off just fine. Worst discomfort was/is the gas like everyone says. I'm still distended today but can squish my stomach, where Thursday/Friday am it was tight like a basketball. I'm not sure which incision has the port, but I betcha its the one that hurts the most. :P

I'll work on a surgery day post and put it in the right place on here. Figuring out how to get out of bed was the hardest thing, but I've got that worked out and I 'm having no issues. I stayed in a hotel Thursday until this afternoon. I have two young kids and I highly reccomend this. I was able to walk and sleep when I needed to. I was able to figure out my limitations and how to move around. My biggest issue since being home is protecting my belly from leaping children.

I'm feeling grateful and hopeful for the next chapter. No regrets. :D

Very awesome I was banded on Tuesday and have had good and bad so far.

Got on the scale for the 1st time since pre op Monday and have lost 5 additional pounds this week.

Keep up the good work most my pain at this point is port and staples. Staples at this point itches.

Good job so far! Congratulations on the surgery. The port scar is usually the longest one.

I was banded yesterday (Friday) & I have 5 incision all above my belly button. They all hurt and it hurts most when I breath in. Anyone have this?

Yes CM, five incisions here, hurts when I strain my muscles. My inhalation pain was gas related.

So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage.

Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?

Yes I'm sure the pain while breathing in is the gas. Its not moving out quickly lol.

Congrats!. I also got banded on Thursday.. I sleep on the right side of the bed so all of my incisions are on the left its easier to sleep on my right side. I have kinda rolled my way off the bed. I'm still getting used to it too hopefully we can find a happy medium!

Glad to hear you're doing well. Staying in front of the pain/discomfort with Tylenol really helps. My stomach still has a swollen pouch-like spot in the front - funny to look at, feel like I'm pregnant again! We're on the mend, though, aren't we, and the rest of this we got in the bag!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
