Lionbird 25 Posted March 23, 2013 Hey ya'll. I was banded Thursday morning. I'm doing pretty well. Took a shower today YAY. Never took the high test pain meds, didn't need them. Tylenol took the edge off just fine. Worst discomfort was/is the gas like everyone says. I'm still distended today but can squish my stomach, where Thursday/Friday am it was tight like a basketball. I'm not sure which incision has the port, but I betcha its the one that hurts the most. I'll work on a surgery day post and put it in the right place on here. Figuring out how to get out of bed was the hardest thing, but I've got that worked out and I 'm having no issues. I stayed in a hotel Thursday until this afternoon. I have two young kids and I highly reccomend this. I was able to walk and sleep when I needed to. I was able to figure out my limitations and how to move around. My biggest issue since being home is protecting my belly from leaping children. I'm feeling grateful and hopeful for the next chapter. No regrets. 5 ☠carolinagirl☠, CHEZNOEL, 2muchfun and 2 others reacted to this
bmccrorey 10 Posted March 23, 2013 Very awesome I was banded on Tuesday and have had good and bad so far. Got on the scale for the 1st time since pre op Monday and have lost 5 additional pounds this week. Keep up the good work most my pain at this point is port and staples. Staples at this point itches. 1 Lionbird reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted March 23, 2013 Good job so far! Congratulations on the surgery. The port scar is usually the longest one. 1 Lionbird reacted to this
CM77539 10 Posted March 23, 2013 I was banded yesterday (Friday) & I have 5 incision all above my belly button. They all hurt and it hurts most when I breath in. Anyone have this?
Lionbird 25 Posted March 23, 2013 Yes CM, five incisions here, hurts when I strain my muscles. My inhalation pain was gas related. 1 flrosie reacted to this
2muchfun 8,927 Posted March 24, 2013 So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage. Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you? 1 flrosie reacted to this
CM77539 10 Posted March 24, 2013 Yes I'm sure the pain while breathing in is the gas. Its not moving out quickly lol. 1 flrosie reacted to this
2BMeAgain007 2 Posted March 24, 2013 Congrats!. I also got banded on Thursday.. I sleep on the right side of the bed so all of my incisions are on the left its easier to sleep on my right side. I have kinda rolled my way off the bed. I'm still getting used to it too hopefully we can find a happy medium!

My stomach still has a swollen pouch-like spot in the front - funny to look at, feel like I'm pregnant again! We're on the mend, though, aren't we, and the rest of this we got in the bag!
