Hi everyone! Trying to keep my spirits up but it's been hard. The chest and gas pain make it difficult to imagine recovering. I still can't believe I did it.

My biggest fears are: complications and not actually losing weight. How come many of you are experiencing little to no weight loss and what advice have you received since to help you along?

I'm scared of this new journey... It feels unknown right now. Hoping to lean on you all to get me through this

We will be here. In my experience the people who are having difficulty often are not following the doctors orders. Have faith. If you do what they say and don't cheat, you will lose. If not, come back and yell at me. We will be here.

stop worrying about something that may or may not happen (complications not losing)

grammy was right, follow your dr advises you to do and you will lose..

my advice, believe in yourself and let the band work.

I'm on day 3 now and I think what's frustrating the most is the gas pain. It is never ending for me except when I sleep. Then I wake up and it's like even more pain. It subsides but its still always there. I'm supposed to take my gauze off but I'm too scared.

What I don't like is knowing there is a foreign object in me, and I can't predict the future. I can only try..

I am having pain in my port area and I am not sure to put ice or heat on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. How long does it hurt in that area?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
