3 days out of surgery: questions!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, doin' a wee bit better than yesterday. But when I think of having this "thing" actually inside my body (like a foreign object) it kinda freaks me out...but I tell myself it is no different from all the pins and plates I had in my ankle....(at least I keep convincing myself of that, so don't burst my bubble!).

Question: how long did it take for you to be able to sleep on your side? This sleeping on my back is KILLING ME! I'm a complete side sleeper and even tummy sleeper....I can give up the tummy though to sleep on my side. I tried rolling over last night in bed to get on my side but it made my incisions sore and it felt like they were being "stretched" (for lack of a better description). So, taking it as a warning, I stayed on my back.

So, how long for you side sleepers????

Second question: After the surgery, I asked the doc what band I got and he said I got the "mid-band" which holds 9ccs. I know a lot out there hold 4ccs. I'm just curious as to how they decide which one to put in (this doc has a few he chooses from and he says he knows once he is inside which one to use). I'm just wondering what determines that. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having a 9cc band as opposed to a 4cc?

Tks in advance for your input!!

BTW, I AM going to get some Isopure today to help with the Protein during this liquid stage!

Yoda

I know exactly how you feel because I too am a stomach and side sleeper and it was terrible sleeping on my back. I woke up and was stiff and sore by being in one position all night. I had to lay on my back for over a week before I could sleep on my side. I too felt my port area stretching and it was uncomfortable. Just yesterday at 16 days out was I comfortable enough to sleep on my stomach. I know some people have no problems much earlier though.

HI YODA !!!

Congrationlations on being banded!

I was banded on Monday, April 17th.

I was able to sleep on my side by Thursday, very very carefully!!

I have a memory foam pillow - I hold it against my stomach and it works GREAT - so much better then a regular pillow.

It is Sunday morning and last nite I was able to roll easily to either side and rest comfortably.

Hang in there!!! It will get better!!

I am posting a new thread about protien drinks and sugar, I don't want to hyjack this thread!

Hope your sleeping more comfortably real soon!!!!!

Hey Yoda,

I was sleeping on my right side the day of surgery, cause I couldn't get comfortable on my back. All my incisions were on my left side, so I wasn't lying on anything.

Then I surprised myself on day 3 when I woke up in the middle of the night and realized I was on my stomach. I've been sleeping like that every since. It feels more secure than being on my side, for some reason. I feel like everything's hangin out and exposed on my side.

At first I had to almost lower my self onto my stomach, cause rolling onto it felt too weird, but now I'm rollin' all over the place ;)

I am also a side sleeper and the WORST part of the surgery for me was having to sleep on my back. I was able to turn on my right side after about 8-9 days and could tolerate being on my left side at about 2.5 weeks post-op. I am now 3.5 weeks post-op and still have twinges of pain when I sleep on my left side. My surgeon told me the healing process takes 6 weeks so hang in there... it gets better.

I'm a side sleeper too. After 3 days of sleeping flat in a recliner I couldn't take it anymore. I moved back to my bed, pushed a body pillow under my right side (because my incisions are on my left and I didn't want to pull on them) and slept on my right side.

It's actually been so comfortable, I'm 6 weeks out and that's how I'm still sleeping even though my pain is competely gone!

 Kristin

Yo Yoda: I was banded on the 17th and am a side sleeper also. About the fifth day after I was able to sleep on my side and turn from one side to the the other very carefully, if still feels weird but it gets much better. Hang in there and the band(Force) be with you

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
