can u start to get hungry again...

Recommended Posts

I had a .5cc fill on January 24th. Was good for about a month, not hungry for about 4 hours between meals. Now for the past month I feel like all I do is watch the clock to c when it's meal time. I'm still watching my calories and Protein, and workout 4-5 days a week. But I feel like the weight I lost this month is purely because of that, because I am sooooo hungry. Have a Dr appt on Monday thank God. Has this happened to u?

Yes...in the begining as soon as my Doc would walk into the exam room all smiles and say your down 3 lbs...Id be only by the grace of God...because Im starving all the time !!!

When you hit that green zone.....you will see what all the hype is about...and why some call it the sweet spot

My doc explains it like this....as the fat around your bellie shrinks the band gets looser....makes sence to me

I'm 3 1/2 months post op and feel like that's how I live my life. Work out, barely eat, I do drop 1-3 lbs a week but it is by pure determination. I go next Friday for another fill and am hopeful that I will be closer to the "green/sweet" spot. Sounds heavenly! FYI I have 8.5cc's in a 14 cc band.

It will take time for you to understand the difference between hunger and cravings? Cravings can be just as consuming as real hunger and the more you think about eating, the greater the craving. It took me over a year to tell the diff.

Being hungry does not equate to weight loss. If it's true hunger it's just your body giving you signals that it needs nourishment. I doubt it helps to burn more calories and if it does, it's miniscule. You lose weight(fat) because you burn more calories than you consume.

It sounds like you're in "Bandster Hell". Most of us have been there. It will go away once you get that fill that provides you the satiety signals to get you through the day.

I've had the band for 3 1/2 yrs now and I've been hungry everyday since day 1. A very small portion of food fills me now, since getting restriction at my 3rd fill, but I'm hungry soon afterwards. I guess thats not so true, it's about 4-5 hrs before I'm truly hungry again. I snack. I have 1/2 banana with PB, a cup of Soup, a small bowl of popcorn, etc. My dr recommends 3 meals with no Snacks, but I've found it helps me eat less at mealtime.

So, yes, it's normal to be hungry. The band is sposed to help you to eat less food, not make you less hungry. At least, I was told it was....

Good luck!

Marci

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
