where do i get Protein powder for food?

4 carrots

4 potatoes (medium sized)

1 onion

1 scallion

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 to 4 pinches of sea salt

Chop all the vegetables up and put them in a pan of Water. Add salt, and boil until soft. When soft, blend with a hand blender and add the olive oil. More or less Water will make it thicker or thiner. May add unflavored Protein Powder as well.

Serves 4

This is the recipe my nutritionist put me on for my 1st week out from surgery, she said to eat 100ml each time I ate. With the Protein powder this gives you carbs from the potatoes, protein from the powder and nutrients from the onion and carrots.

*there is a more complex version on the mushies thread

I was one of the lucky patients with the terrible gas pains after surgery. While I was allowed to move from Clear liquids to full liquids after 3 days, my stomach wasn't ready for it. :sick:sick:sick When my son was little, he had bouts of gas colic, and I remember this recipe helped him. I swear it tastes just like the rice pudding (kheer) served at Indian restaurants.

Cardamom is the flavoring in chai/spice tea. It's completely unique, nothing else substitues well. It settles the tummy like a prescription drug. I've put it in my coffee for years, and everyone comments on it.

Kheer (Rice Pudding) Drink

1/4 c Gerber "Cereal for Baby" Rice Flakes

1/2 c 1% Milk

1/4 tsp Cardamom

1 pkg Stevia or Splenda sweetener

Mix all ingredients together in a coffee mug, and microwave on high for 45 seconds.

105 calories, 10g Protein

-4 ounces skim milk

-4 frozen strawberries

-1/4 cup sugar free, fat free Jello Cheesecake pudding

Add all ingredients (protein powder last) in blender or smoothie machine and blend until smooth!!!

Thank you for all of the recipes! I started some of my grocery shopping today in preparation for my October 11th surgery. This was a tip posted by someone earlier. I also followed another tip and went to allrecipes.com (which is my favorite site to find holiday desserts). I found this lovely dessert for the liquid phase that may help with a sweet tooth. I modified the recipe for our dietary needs:

strawberry Soup

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups strawberries
  • 1 cup skim milk (the recipe actually calls for buttermilk)
  • 1 teaspoon Splenda

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place strawberries and skim milk into a blender or food processor and puree. Sweeten with Splenda to taste, blend and either serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
