Is burping from very deep in your stomach normal? I've been banded since May of 2012, and it seems like it just started after my last fill...Embarrassingly loud! My husband thought it was our Rotweiller growling the other night!

I burp very loud all the time. My stomach also gurgles a lot especially when I am trying to go to sleep. Speaking of gas, I fart too more than before the band. They don't smell. I know some people have said they take GasX. I have never tried it.

Personally, I think the stoma acts as an echo chamber for the belching.

I have the same issues as Dylan. I burp more, pre surgery I use to burp quiet and lady like. My burps are belches persay, but louder than before. I gurgle alot. I also have gas- my hubs laughs because I never farted before I had this surgery, but it is horrible now.

My gurgling helps lull my husband to sleep at nite! And I'm 3 1/2 yrs post op (I used to gurgle alot more than now tho). I also burp alot. I try to keep them quiet when I'm around anyone (besides my husband. I let them roll out with him!). When I take a sip of his soda (yes, I know, bad bad me) I burp for like 5 straight minutes. I only take maybe 2 sips a month of his soda (for all those who are going to reprimand me). Haven't noticed gas from the lower end increasing at all.

You're totally normal! Good luck!

I think it's pretty normal. Before surgery, I too was a quiet, ladylike, and only occasional burper. Since banding, I have been known to startle the dogs to the point that they jump up from a sound sleep and run out of the room looking for the source of the noise. C'est la vie, I suppose. I consider it a small price to pay.

And occasionally, I just blame it on one of the dogs.

I don't have loud burps but I do pass gas... and mine smells horrible. Can't even blame the dog, we don't have one!

I burp, deep burps that sneak up on me and are involuntary. I never know when they will happen, really embarrassing. Not too much farting, a lot less than pre band. Bad breath is s problem though, don't know why.

I have also noticed that I burp a lot when I haven't eaten enough. Weird!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
