Yikes...am I really getting a tummy tuck tomorrow??

Recommended Posts

Ok did you ever hear the saying be careful what you wish for it just may come true? Well I have been wising for a Tummy Tuck for the past few years and the day has finally come and I'm scared out of my mind. I am not afraid of the pain I'm afraid of not waking up or getting an infection. I don't know why I am all of a sudden freaking out but just am. I decided to go for it all,TT, Lipo, breast lift and let's not forget breadt augmentation, 5,5 hour surgery. I always thought after I got my lap band and lost the weight I would be content. However after losing 75 lbs I now how sagging breasts that were basically deflated and all this extra skin. I have exercised throughout my entire journey but nothing works. If anyone has some words of wisdom, tips or if you can say a prayer for a stranger I would greatly appreciate it! :)

Wow, this is so exciting! Scary for you, I understand, but exciting too! Everything will be fine. You earned this, and you've waited so long, so just have faith and take a deep breath! You will feel amazing in a few weeks after the swelling has gone down and you are feeling comfortable. People have these procedures all the time, and you will be okay. Try to focus on what life will be like when all the bandages come off and you resume your normal activities. Won't it be fun to look in the mirror and see your new shape! Good luck, and keep us posted! :)

I have my breast lift tomorrow Saturday 23rd March, i have had all the other surgies and believe me they were not as bad as you imagine them to be. I am 58 yrs old and had masses of skin to be cut away as i had lost over 237lbs, but it looks and feels fantastic, this is one thing you will not regret. It is easy to look back after surgery with rose tinted specs on, take lots of before photos and then keep looking back at them, all this body changing skews our perceptions a little so keep the before and after pics close at hand. Cosmetic surgery has an emotional rollercoaster too so be prepared for a few tearful days but on the whole be be prepared for a new lease of life .. good luck for your surgery.. let us know how you are doing. I will be so glad to get rid of my sagging breats too, i dont need the augmentation just the darn things lited and skin removed :)

The good thing about long surgeries is that we dont know they are long, only the relatives waiting for us do :) my first surgery was 11 hours long, my second was 7 hours, this is a planned 4 hour, you will be fine :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
