I have always been a very fast drinker. With water' date=' coffee, any type of drink. I find myself wanting to swig like I'm used to. How many ounces at one time?[/quote']

I was banded on 3-8-13 and I too have 4 kids in the house. I filled house with Jello, popsicles, low fat yogurt, light V8 juice, no sugar added apple juice, ect to make it easier on me. I kept telling myself that snacking and junk food was a part of why I need this band in the first place. I too have gotten hungry as my stomach swelling has went down. The number one thing to help is to sip and eat VERY slowly. This is the EXACT opposite of what I use to do. However, if I take 20 minutes to drink a shake or a cup of Soup I will fill up. I try to take a sip/ bite every minute. And yes I have to look at a clock to slow down. It has gotten easier. And it's better than feeling hungry. Then in 2 hrs I will then snack on Jello, yogurt, ect. I also try to walk when I am hungry or get away from food if possible. YOU CAN DO THIS! It's so worth it!

We have ALL gone through this. Our bodies have to get used to not receiving as much food as it once did. It will pass. Stay strong and congratulations.

Did your surgeon not give you a post op diet to follow? I was only allowed 2-3oz of soup at a time. Hope you didn't eat the whole can.

As far as other family members eating fattening foods, It is nice if you could remove those foods from your house, but in my house it was me who was eating healthier. My hub who does not have weight issues continues to eat his junk food.

I am doing this for ME, so I had to use MY want power to get through this. I can't expect my family to eat what I eat, but I can expect myself to want this enough to do what I have to do.

Do you WANT this to work? After major surgery, I think you do.

Make up your mind to Want yourself back to good health.

As far as cheese puffs, probably didn't hurt you, its slider food, but by making your stomach churn to digest food, can hurt you.

Your Dr is not trying to torture you, but help you succeed. Do what he says and talk to your Dr if you can't handle diet.

Well my dr. Is in Mexico, lol so I have no contact with him...however, I did find an email with a post op diet...it mentions 2-4oz in a sitting...that seems so small to me...I should have been better prepared for the amounts of food I can eat. Ugh still feeling bad, and yes, I ate the entire can!

Do you have a doctor set up near you to manage fills? It may be hard to find one that will take you on since you went out of the U.S. and it's a liability on them, but without a doc to manage fills, your band is not going to work for you.

Thanks so much...12 more days of liquids. Do u think I may have caused any damage?

Don't know. Ask your doctor. Your insides have to heal that is why you MUST stick to the diet you were given. I had to take my brother out for his birthday 2 weeks after my band. I sat with 3 people while they ate and I had tea. It is tough but that is part of the process. People fail and or can hurt themselves not following the directions. Good luck

That sounds like having my primary doc performing an ACL reconstruction. Gee, what could possibly go wrong?

Lol 2muchfun! That's what I thought too at first! Apparently the ports are the exact same that are used on patients receiving chemo. We are going to get the first full in MX and the dr is going to show my mom how to do it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
