I'm 2 days post op how long do you feel this dehydrated. I don't seem to be able to shake it but I don't want to drink too much.

Also what kind of sleeping complications have you dealt with I have pains almost every where and its very hard to get comfortable.

Thanks for any input.

You can't really drink too much unless you're talking about more than 100 ozs?

Water slips right threw your band, so I don't think you need to worry about drinking to much.

Did you get pain meds? Keep up with them until you are comfortable.

Heating pad helps too. Every new day you will feel better and better. By the end of one week, you will be fine.

Dr told me the first 48hrs is the roughest, so things will get better soon.

Good luck!

Sip, sip, sip... I seriously doubt you can drink too much! Dehydration will put you in the hospital.

I agree with the other posters above...You really can't (within reason) drink too much Water. You should have no problem drinking Water.< /p>

Take it from my experience, you do NOT want to get too dehydrated. I woke up in the ER last year after a 4 hour, hot biking trip. Concussion's are NO FUN. Stupid me! Never again.

Regarding sleeping, I slept in the recliner for the first 3 or 4 nights and used pillows to prop. When I moved to the bed, I slept on my side with a pillow between my knees, a pillow in front of my belly, and a couple of pillows under my head and neck. The pillow between my knees and the one in front of my belly helped so much, not sure why ...I guess it keeps everything in alignment:) I'm normally a stomach-sleeper. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
