Missing food

Great post! What are "slider" foods?

Foods that slide through your band easily and do not give you the satiety signal. Foods like Soups, chips, Cookies, refried Beans, many mexican foods, crackers.

Would you consider cottage cheese a slider?

I probably wouldn't since it's usually a low fat, low cal food. It might go down easily but if it's a snack food it should give you some satiety?

In my mind, a slider food is a food that is low nutrition, high glycemic and gives no satiety.

Of course, one could over indulge in any food and have bad results?

That's what I was thinkinging since its a good source of Protein, but since it is a really soft food I thought it could be considered slider. Thanks.

I like the challenge. To feed myself healthy, to fill my sweet tooth, etc with healthy things. It's fun for me.

The only thing I miss is All You Can Eat Korean BBQ. I COULD still go if I wanted but what's the point? Too expensive for what I can eat.

Once you start losing, (I'm almost 3 months in and 52 pounds down) you'll see how it's just not worth it, there are tons of healthy stuff I can eat, and quite a few unhealthy stuff I can treat myself to.

After 3 1/2 years, I have very little appetite for food! The thought, makes me go yuck! I eat mostly fish, had baby calves liver lastnight. It was very tender and I was able to eat it, and digest it fine. It was the only "red" meat I have eaten recently. I was at a convention this week, and they fixed some pork, it was good, too. I don't miss most foods, now! Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
