I'm wondering if any one has Dr. Darrin F. Hansen from Utah?

what did you think of him and his staff? What should I expect? I don't know any one that has him as a dr. and just want an opinion.

this will be my dr. I'm meeting him tomorrow, and i've tried to do my homework but would like to hear something from someone that already goes to him.

Thanks so much for any help

Dr. Hansen was/is my surgeon. I couldn't recommend him more highly, but you won't see him much after the surgery. Your main point of contact for the after care will be Kristi the RN who heads up his LB program. Most of the staff are banded, and they have gone out of their way to make sure I am successful with my band. Fact is that Kristi gave me her cell number and told me that if I was having problems with my band, day or night to call her and that either she or the Dr. would meet me at the office if i needed help.

One of the things that I really likes is their fill program, once you are 5 weeks out you will get your first fill, and then they see you every two weeks after. The support group was much better than I expected as well.

Good luck I think you will be very happy with Dr. Hansen and his staff.

Thank you so much!

I live about 3/4 hours away and so I will be traveling for every fill but I'm glad to know that he and his staff are good to work with.

I know I will have most of my questions answered tomorrow but it's good to hear this from someones that has the same surgeon, really I appreciate it.

I don't know anyone that has been banded and I hadn't heard anything good or bad about any of the surgeons but it makes me feel a lot better about my decision to hear a good experience :)

Aint it great to have lots of support? I grieve for the bandsters who don't have the clinical support some of us get. It is so important and maybe just as important as having a good surgeon. I see so many people who time and time again, post here that their docs and staff are rude or are so stringent in their protocols that they refuse to vary the routines with each patient. And we all are different so I never believed in the one size or method fits all.

So, The B, Terry tells it like it is. Good luck.

Then I'm lucky to be going to a great clinic!

I just want to add that I have been following the different posts in these forums for a while and have come to respect the opinion of you both (and a few others) :)

I have been very grateful for all the support I see and great advice and information I've learned through all the posts!

Thanks

I live in Layton, so I'm about 40 minutes away from his office. Fun part is the fills take less than 5 minutes ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
