Glo NM 0 Posted March 19, 2013 I am 6 months post op and after my last fill, which I think I am now in the green zone, I have been waking up in the middle of night having to burp and sometimes I burp up bile. I am thinking my band may be a little tight. I do have a call in to the doctor. Any thoughts?
morelgirl 177 Posted March 19, 2013 This sounds to me like a sign of acid reflux, which often happens because a band is too tight. Give your doctor a call and discuss whether you need to have a small unfill. A lot of people ignore acid reflux, thinking they can just take an OTC med and chalk it up as the price to pay for the weight loss, but left untreated, it can lead to serious, even life threatening, problems down the road, like esophageal cancer. Plus, who wants to be uncomfortable every time they go to bed? 4 ☠carolinagirl☠, 2muchfun, SeaSounders♥ and 1 other reacted to this

Laurajean030 12 Posted March 19, 2013 I had this problem after my last fill. I actually started happening about 3 weeks after. I was having reflux at night and had to go in for an unfill. I'm glad I did. I hesitated for the first few days cause I didn't want to lose the restriction I had. I only lost a little bit of the restriction but I'm eating how I should be and still losing weight. Now I can sleep through the night without puking. My doc also said if you get it into your lungs it can be very dangerous.
hely88 883 Posted March 19, 2013 Yep unfortunate it sounds like you are too full. You really don't want that to continue to happen it can lead to more serious conditions. Great that you are calling your doctor. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
SageTracey 608 Posted March 19, 2013 You are not in the green zone if that is happening to you. I'll reiterate what everyone has already said - see your dr. Take care of yourself now for the long term 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
SkinnyCubanChick 150 Posted March 20, 2013 Definitely need a slight infill. Sometimes the smallest infill will do!

Soybean 4 Posted March 29, 2013 I was also finding myself choking on bile or acid reflux at night sometimes, especially the later I ate. It hasn't happened for a while although it still happens on a rare occasion. What I am experiencing is some burning sensation in my throat, which I guess is acid reflux? It's not really "burning" though it feels uncomfortable. I'm very happy at this level of fill, and I think I had this even when I was a little less filled in the band. Anyway, just wanted to share it and see if others had same issues. I feel like it happens when I eat particular foods, though I'm still learning what those are since it's fairly new.
