Hi Folks,

Banded in November and I am having a difficult time staying focused. I definitely need a fill. Had trouble scheduling my appt and have to wait another 2 wks! I really want to do a couple of liquid diet days, I was wondering, for those that do this, what do you have and how much do you drink.

I thought a Protein shake, some clear broths, like what I followed right after surgery only more than 2 oz at a time.

Any suggestions?

I seem to be overeating and thought a day or two to get control again. I have had 2 fills and I have been so hungry the last week and half. I just need to gain control of my eating again.

Which I understand, but being on liquids is only going to make you hungrier and more prone to over eating because of it.

If I were in your shoes, I'd increase your Protein. Protein really does fill you up a lot better than anything else.

I heard of the five day pouch test, it gets u back on track. Haven't tried it myself since I'm a month outa surgery. Just google it. It's on a website for the banded. Good luck.

i see no reason to go all liquids....just start eating better.....and in your allotted amounts....protein is what keeps you full (in my opinion) and i agree with mis......you can choose to eat better or choose not too... you are way stronger than you realize.

I am right there with you. I was banded in January and I am feeling out of control. I am still sticking to Portion Control (for the most part) but it is what I am eating that is bad. We eat out a lot and I want what my family gets and so I do. I read the article from up above and I think that is exactly what I need to get going again.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
