First Shower After Post-Op Advice....

Any tips on the first shower after surgery? I'm worried for my incisions. Any advice will help.

Just don't scrub the incisions or steri strips. Wash the rest of you as usual but just let the Water run over the incisions without actually touching them.

Don't be nervous, you'll probably feel a lot better once you get all that hospital ick off you!

I definitely agree with NOT scrubbing incisions or steri strips and just letting the Water run over them. Also, and you may know this, I would not use like "fancy shower gels" on that area either. Just a heads up, sometimes I think people don't think about that.

I held a washclothe over my stomach for the first few days because i was nervous about pain from the Water hitting it... but you'll feel so much better!

My doc said peel the actual band aids off but use anti bacterial soap n let the Water n soap run down without scrubbing or really touching incisions. Then pat dry lightly. After a couple showers the steri strips will look raggy n fall off on their own. I just peeled mine off..gross dried blood yuck! look much better n feel much better! hope this helps.

i faced away from the shower Water and it was fine..boy it felt good too.
