problems and then a NSV

Recommended Posts

For starters I had lunch out of town on my way to a dr's appt in Nashville today so my mom and I stopped at a Cracker Barrel. I ordered child's grilled chicken tenders and green Beans, you get 3 chicken tenders they are about the length size of your finger and I give some of my beans to my mom. Now, usually I can eat all of it but today I had to stop at 1 chicken finger and 2 bites of beans, don't know if I was stuck or full, the food just felt like it was right at the top of my throat. I didn't PB, didn't slime, didn't salivate as usual. Then for the last 2 nights I've experienced heartburn and had to take TUMS and I take Omeprazole every morning to prevent this, what's up?

My NSV, I can finally cross my legs, woohoo, haven't been able to do that in 20 yrs, feels good.

thanks Missy. Question, I'm not losing major weight tho. Well, I've lost 6 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm due to go in for a fill on the 28th. I thought I had heard that about the heartburn but wasn't certain. I mean, today was weird at lunch, I usually can tolerate chicken in tiny bites but since my last fill, I'm getting stuck on toast, chicken, fish. Its making me resort to things to eat like a bowl of Beans tomorrow that mom cooked the other day, yes Protein but slider in a way, you know. I hate to have any taken out, oh gosh I do, I wanna lose but I certainly don't want heartburn/reflux and acid coming back up and eating away at my esophegus (sp?). I hate to bother him over the weekend about this, would you call tomorrow and discuss or would you ride out the weekend and wait till Monday and call to see if I can get in?

Actually, the fact you're not losing and eating mostly soft foods are just more signs you're too tight.

Contrary to the myths out there, being too tight can lead to stalled weight loss and even weight gain. The reason being, you're resorting to slider type foods and "soft calorie syndrome" because you can't eat the healthy things you should be.

Have a look at this article, it is about being too tight and is really good info: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/support/post-op-support/tighter-isnt-always-better-r118

I think you can safely ride it out until Monday, but do get in to see your doctor.

Best wishes :)

I wouldn't make an emergency of it, but would call after the weekend. U won't necessarily not lose weight by having some taken out of your band, as u will be able to eat all your Proteins etc without worrying about getting stuck. if we are too tight we tend eat more slider type foods either which contain more calories or we eat more often as we are hungrier. It's all a matter of balance .. Good luck and hope u get it resolved soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
