How do you know when you're full?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this is new to me. Was banded last Friday and I'm having a hard time differentiating from being full "satisfied" and just having an uncomfortable full feeling in my chest.

Today I ate the juice from a homemade chic noodle Soup. I ate about 1/2 cup and stopped. My stomach is still growling, but I feel full (stuffy) in my chest and now my head...it's like some pressure or something. I know that sounds crazy, right?

Just trying to learn the difference so I'll know in the future...thanks!

To be honest....IMO...it is too early to worry about that...in my case...MONTHS

Right now, you need to heal...get back to normal....as to where you were before the surgery...and listen to your Dr.'s post op instructions...he/she will have more for you as you move forward....

This "Stuffy" feeling in your chest, and other possible feelings are related to post surgical healing.....

It's way too soon to be able to tell the difference imo. Your stomach is still healing and swollen as well as your abdomen.

Knowing the difference between head hunger and being satisfied can take a long time. Took me over a year.

Feeling full shouldn't be what you are looking for at all. This will be very cerebral as time goes along. Knowing if you're hungry and knowing it's just a craving is your mission now.

And you shouldn't be concerned with any of this till your about 5-6 weeks out.

Ok thanks! So the full feeling in my chest is normal? Even with liquids?

To be honest I don't recall anything like a full feeling in my chest after eating.

For the first few weeks I was full after a cup of liquid... Once healed I moved to about a cup of food at every meal and no more than 1000 calories a day..... It worked like a charm. I think it's too early to be worried about how you feel...your body is still recovering

Well maybe my pain was from gulping my Gatorade too fast. I had this "clump" feeling in my chest for hours. No amount of walking or gas-x would rid it.

Now this morning, it's totally fine. So I'm figuring it was something I "ate".

You are still healing and many days away for a full feeling due to food. Water should give you a full feeling right now. Let your stomach heal for a few weeks then start worrying about the full feeling. Follow your doctor's orders and ask questions on your first post op visit. Sip your Water, NO big gulps (too much air)

Best wishes

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
