With this last fill (4cc total) I am still able to eat anything if I am careful, I had steak and sautéed spinach for dinner and Mistress Band didn't even so much as glance up from her magazine, 2 hours later I have a German chocolate cupcake and she straps on her stiletto heels and is stomping all over my chest. WTF? It was a slider if I have ever seen one, what is her problem?

I'm the same..stuff I shouldn't eat and is usually a slider for everyone else gets stuck every time..to me it's a good thing it's not worth the pain..steak and other meat no problems getting down and staying

Steak, and any similar red meat is a no-no for me.....matter of fact, thanks to the band and the delight of ALL my Dr,'s , friends and peers, I have not had red meat in over 2 years now.....

But I have much more in my band than 4cc's .....that was the amount of my first fill followed by 2 others....

In convalescent centers, long term care facilities, you will find there is rarely red meat on the menu...it's is just to hard on the digestive system....

Anyway, I'll take a guess and say that eating steak as easily as you do, it is possible you are still irritating the band.....causing minor inflammation....making the next thing you eat a little more difficult....

BTW, cake, or any bread - flour, doughy items are just as difficult for me and also on my NO list along with red meat...cupcakes are by no means a slider food for me but a show stopper...same as dough-nuts, pie crust, Pasta, etc....

But I don't mind...none of those things are healthy for me....a Diabetic with Cardiac conditions....

can't eat steak, either. Mostly I eat fish, and some chicken, but it can't be dry! I need to have a sauce of some sort for my chicken. I can eat chili with hamburger and sometimes Pasta with meat sauce or meatballs.

I wish I had a problem with cake.

You and me both, girl!

I'm just a newbie so not sure, but is it possible your pouch was still holding the food you ate, and when you added the cupcake there was no place for it to go?

Anything is possible, but the conventional wisdom is that the pouch would have emptied itself after two hours.

I can't do anything flour dense - cake, crackers, breads. My band just doesn't like them.

I can do any meat, if I take small enough bites and chew it long enough. But steak requires so much chewing that it just gets icky and I don't want it before it's chewed enough.

I am the exact same way. I've considered having a cc taken out but I really think it is more me than the band. I knew getting into this life change there would be certain no-no's. Anything with dough or red meat is a def no. I am also having trouble keeping stuff down so I am looking forward to suggestions. This has just been a recent change and I haven't had a fill in weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
