Is Weight Watchers Worth It

Recommended Posts

Lately I've been needing some extra support with meal planning and meal ideas. I have been considering joining WW but I wouldn't purchase their frozen meals because I eat minimally processed foods. How has anybody experience been with WW. Has anyone tried the new WW 360 program?

Thanks in advance

I think now that you have learned what to eat, WW would be a waste of money. But then, I don't enjoy WW meetings. Maybe online?

WW will give you an excellent foundation in nutrition. If that is what you are looking for I would recommend it.

I personally feel that any designer plan which costs money isn't any better than basic nutritional info I can get on line . Also I tracked my calories with my phone ap which made me realize the right and wrong foods to eat.... And since I am not a joiner of those sort of things it's not the best resource for me.

If you feel you need to have the structure then I would say to go for it but the Internet is a free bottomless pit of information about menu planning.... And the phone ap is also free ..

I agree about the Internet being full of endless ideas, that's why I wasn't excited about the idea but thought id ask anyway. Honestly WW Just seems like it isn't for me. I'd rather pay for a gym membership or extra cardio classes or even some nice workout gear. Thanks for the responses.

The Internet is also a source of tremendous mis-information. WW has the highest success rate of any diet plan on the market, and since nutrition is more than tracking calories an app may not be enough. WW took me from 324 to 250, unfortunately like the band it requires a lifestyle change, and when you go back to old habits, you gain the weight back, just like with the band.

Given that I see posts about newly banded people on the forum sucking down foot long subs, eating deep fried cheese as a mushie and counseling others to mix food and drink, I have my doubts about the nutritional IQ of our banded brethren. But that is just my personal opinion, and your mileage may vary.

I really liked going to the meetings. I shopped around leaders until I found someone I liked. It took me 3 ppl b4 I found one that I felt really got me. I liked the support group aspect of it. I was going to stay the same as I bought my wedding dress & had it altered 6 months b4 my wedding as I was away for school & didn't want to worry about gaining or losing & it not fitting. I got discounted prices through my insurance. But WW seems expensive at full price.

You may want to consider overeaters anonymous. It's usually free. They also weigh you at the meetings and it can help you with accountability and gives you a local " sponor". My previous boyfriends mom had it & she used to call every meal into her sponsor before she ate it. She brought scales & measuring cups to the restaurant & it really worked for her. She had someone to call & be there for her when she had the late night munchies at 11pm.

Not sure if you are looking for accountability, fellowship or mentor or perhaps just meal ideas.

They have a ww magazine , cookbook & various other publications that you can buy without joining. There's also the older ww cookbooks on ebay and such that have good ideas and all the nut info for less $$. Or you can try some of the online recipe builders.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
