I was banded 11/16/11. I got engaged 5/19/12 with a size 9 engagement ring. Since my surgery, I've lost 77 pounds.

Last week while washing dishes (with my ring on like an idiot), my ring flew off, and down the drain!!!!!

Luckily, my fiance was able to open the drain and get my ring before it was gone for good.

The next day, I brought my ring to the jeweler to get resized.

I am now a size 6 1/2!!!!!!!

I haven't been that ring size since I was in my mother's womb I think.

A little success story from a little scare...

Glad to hear that you were able to recover your ring. I need to have mine resized as well.

Warning to all... try not to re-size your rings until you reach goal weight. You can buy ring guards for a lot less than sizing. But do use ring guards... no lost rings wanted!

Very exciting...glad you were able to recover the ring. I almost lost mine out the window of a car and immediately decided it was time to get it sized... I went from an 11 to a 7

Congrats your your pending nuptials and the weight loss!

Congrats on the NSV, and your engagement! I had to have my wedding ring cut off my finger 27 years ago, and just had it fixed back to fit me, size 6 at Christmas time. Have not taken it off since!!!

That's awesome! I'm too a size 9 wedding band and already told my hubby I'm going to have to have it resized soon. Luckily, its free unlimited sizing under our warranty!

I tried the ring guards, and my skin started peeling I'm a nurse and wash my hands ALL day, which is probably why. A friend at work had a good suggestion-- Buy a cheap ring in the correct size, and wear it in front of your other rings so the don't fall off. My wedding and engagement rings are a size nine, and I wear a silver size 5 in front. The real rings still jangle a bit and slide around, but I'm at no risk of losing them! My husband wants me to wait to resize when I'm at goal. He says multiple resizings mess up the integrity of the ring, and I should only do it once. (85lbs lost so far, 56 to go!)

My wife and I have both list weight since getting married so we wear our rings on our middle fingers.

I'll probably get it resized when I have to start wearing it on my thumb.

Haha that cracked me up! Love it. Yeah I should prob wait longer to get it resized. I just hate it moving around everywhere.

I also use the cheapo ring trick but I just bought a pretty fake & leave the real thing at home until it's goal time.

I work at a hospital & wear gloves a lot so I usually wear a fake ring so if I lose it no big deal.

I will wear my real ring at special occasions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
