1 week banded with plication

Recommended Posts

I didn't have gb removal but had other 3 as out patient. They gave me an anti nausea patch to wear as well as pills. Just make sure you get all care instructions before the procedure so you can ask questions. Right before and then after surgery isn't good as usually you can't really focus on the info.

Mrsinto- I haven't had a gall bladder for about 13 years. Because of this I've had an issue with bile in my stomach. I'm not a person that really gets nausea. I think everyone has their own rate at which they heal. I was in the hospital for 2 nights but if I didn't stay I feel like I would Have been readmitted due to dehydration. Basically I'm saying listen to your

Body, everyone is different.

Congrats! That must help to get through it all, knowing the weight is coming off steadily.

Draven - I would LOVE to hear how you've been doing over the past months since your surgery. Any complications (my biggest fear considering plication+band). How was the weight loss over the first few months? How many (if any) fills so far? I guess I have a lot of questions <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I love my band with plication. Banded Nov 6 2012. Down 65 lbs. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
