reflex gone after surgery but a month ago I got a cold and started to get chest pain and couldn't drink or eat without great pain.. fianaly went to doctor and he thought there was an infection there from the cold and I have been on meds for the past 2+ wks. pain is gone but still get that stuck feeling when I eat or drink and I get woken up at night with stomach acid coming up into my throat. Take my perlosex and zantax150 and nothing helps. Any ideas? is my surgon the person to go to or go right to the GI guy?

See your surgeon. You may be a bit too tight for right now! Best wishes for your wellbeing.Karen

Check in with the doc. He has to know this information. Maybe band has slipped some. They can scope it in the office.

Best wishes

I have been waking up with a sore throat in the morning. I feel like it could also be due to acid reflux. I'm still not at my "green" zone. I can't possibly be too tight!!! Anyone just have reflux with the band?

Severe nightime reflux was the ONLY sign that my band had slipped. Went for months with it every single night. Some nites, I'd wake up with a pool of brown stomach acid on my pillow (sorry if tmi). I'd cough all night and my throat would burn from the acid. Nothing helped. I took RX Prilosec, OTC Zantac and chewed Tums constantly. Slept on 3 pillows, almost upright. I was afraid to go to the drs for fear he's unfill me. He did. only by 1/2 tho. It helped immediately.

Yes, you need to see your dr when reflux occurs. It could be that you're just too tight, but it could also be that you have a slip. Good luck!

Had severe reflux, MD sent me to ER, they gave me IV Nexium( ooooohhhh it worked almost immediately!), removed 1/4 cc. I felt tremendous relief, able to drink.....

Went back to MD after 2 weeks and he put back the 1/4 cc.

Just a little blip.

I posted this another place, but want to say again, I have been banded since 2007 a couple of years ago I had re-flux so bad I was sleeping upright and it was still happening. The Prevecid the doctor prescribed was not working, I ended up having a small un-fill and that definitely helped. Since then I have not had any more fills, but I still do get re-flux a few times a week. I have found A MIRACLE cure/relief. Aloe Vera juice at your local health food store is a miracle. I have been drinking 1/4 cup before bed for about 6 moths now and I never have reflux at night. Sometimes I will take it during the day if I feel a little burning and it relieves it right away. only 8 bucks for a big bottle at my local Fred Meyer health food section. It is worth t.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
