How do you know if your in the green zone?

I think i am? But how do u really know?

I know I am in the Green Zone because:

I am never hungry...don't mean between meals, I mean all the time (the band is there all the time, so......)

I can eat so much..the band will tell me when to stop...I simply cannot eat anymore....Portion Control

I do not need anymore fills...it's been at least 18 months, and been in the Green ever since...

I steadily and effortlessly continued to loose weight, until there was nothing left to loose....15% BFI

By the chart below, those are the things you can expect IF you are there.....

Here's some much more thorough information about the band and the Green Zone from one of the top Bariatric surgeons, explaining what to expect and what not to expect when you have adequate Fluid in your band.

Note that hunger is expected with the band because it's your body's natural signal it needs energy (just far less often) and that the band isn't supposed to restrict your portions, you are:

____________________________________________

"Adjustments to the band are made to allow the band to suppress appetite for a prolonged period of time. Adjustments are not meant to make you stop eating. The band is a guide, it is not a collar.

We do not like "hard stops," that is, where you eat until you "feel full." We do not use the word "restriction," except when we illustrate a diagram, such as above. Otherwise, restriction would be a "feeling," and we do not subscribe to that. The band does not work by "feeling restricted," and those who seek that term do not lose the weight they should.

You know you need a fill when a small amount of food is not lasting you an appropriate period of time. When you find yourself looking for food -- and feel as if you are dieting.

...........

It typically takes 3-6 fills to reach the "sweet spot" where a small amount of food keeps you satisfied for a long period of time -- and where you don't need to come in monthly for an adjustment. But you will have this sweet spot along the journey. Use this time to reinforce measuring your portions, eating slowly, and small bites. You can drink small swallows of non carbonated fluids while eating. Drinking this way will moisten food and may help to avoid food sticking in your band."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
