Robbswife 15 Posted March 22, 2013 I know this conversation is a week old but I'm so glad I found it. I am 3 days post-op and it's nice to hear other people having the same struggles. Not that I want people to have struggles but it's nice to know mine are normal. I'm not hungry and I'm having a little concern about enough Protein. I had my first cup of coffee this morning, oh how I missed my coffee. Things get a little better every day. I have had some significant pain, but I'm using less pain medication each day. Anyway, thanks! 1 flrosie reacted to this
flrosie 154 Posted March 24, 2013 Hmmm, maybe this is the right place to ask this question. You all talk about diarrhea as though it's to be expected. I haven't had a BM since the morning of my surgery. But I haven't had solid food, either. Clear Liquids - broth, clear juice, popsicles. I wouldn't have expected to have had a BM with this kind of eating. I don't feel like I need anything to help me 'go,' I just don't feel I need to 'go.' liquid in/liquid out isn't a problem - even without my Water pill I'm peeing up a blue streak! Another 10 days of this clear liquid until I graduate to full liquids, which I assume will produce some interesting results. Does this all sound rather normal, like I assume, or do I have a problem I'm not aware of?
mrsto 2,925 Posted March 24, 2013 To all who are on clear liquids and concerned about getting enough Protein, Isopure makes clear flavored (ready made) Protein Drinks. Each 20oz bottle has 160 calories, zero carbs and 40 grams of protein. I have no idea how they taste yet, but I bought a few to get me through the first three days post-op. I bought them at the Vitamin Shoppe, which I believe are all over the country. But other health food type stores should carry them.

There is nothing solid to form anything (not to be too graphic). But hey, it is what it is Once mushies are introduced, that all should change.

I believe the "diarrhea" most people experience is just the body trying to reduce strain on the kidneys by literally flashing fluids into the digestive tract rather than forcing them into the kidneys and bladder to be filtered for toxins. If you were taking a water pill before then odds are your body already struggled with expelling fluids via the digestive tract (that's not a bad thing just a less common physical trait).
