Had the Lapband in September 2008 lost 185lbs over the next 2 years. In oct of 2012 Lapband was removed because it was tearing into my stomach. I lost 8 pints of blood and spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital. Now I have to live without it and its really hard. I'm only up 8lbs from my "normal weight" but I'm starting to slip in old habitats.

Hello, sorry to hear what happen to you. I'm a new bandster but I would say to just stay strong and try to remember the things you use to do to keep control over your habits. Make a meal plan, exercise and simply maintain it. Easier said than done, I know. How did you know your band was causing you this problem??

It's a temporary setback, I know I'll get past it. Just tough. I came home from work an was felt dizzy, thought maybe I didn't eat enough went to the bathroom noticed black stools as I walked out felt like I was drunk and fell down. The next morning I went to the doc and he told me I was bleeding internally. No real pain, feel great now. It took months to feel normal.

Just need to keep using my tools I've learned in the past 5 years and stay active.

That really sucks but great attitude! I often wonder the same thing? But I know the band helps me feel satisfied so much sooner than before. The head hunger always won out before being banded. Good luck.

Have you thought about other options like sleeve, bypass?

I've lost so much weight I'm not a candidate anymore.... I still have about 30lbs to my goal weight. I'm going to keep trying, it's been almost 6 months. But I know when I feel myself slipping into excuses.... Just gotta buckle down

I'd go sleeve if I ever have too, but the goal is to try and not need it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
