you only think you are starving and yes, for some its normal.

i had 2 1/2 weeks liquids before surgery..keep busy, drink alot

if you can do sf popsicles, go for it as those saved me....

for me, the first 4 or 5 days was the hardest....it does get better..

just hang in there...its just readying you for surgery.

Thanks! I keep reading on here that some people have or had no restrictions except 24 hours before surgery. I have a 14 year old son who weighs 99 lbs and he keeps asking me to make him food. Lol.... this is harder than I thought it would be.

You can do this! We've all been there. The first few days are awful! Like CG said mine too was 2 weeks of liquid but I was allowed broth and sf Jello and sf popsicles. Stay busy and think and look at the big picture and why you want the surgery. I'm only 9 mos out and it's bliss at the other end.

Thanks Donna! It helps to hear others say positive things. How is life 9 months after the surgery? Harder or easier than you thought?

well let's just say I've had my "stuck" episodes plenty of times because of not chewing well and taking tiny bites and then there are times that I am not mindful of my bite size and watching tv and get stuck, do not do this, so still learning curve here, but other than that, life is good. 6 mos out I had to have gallbladder removal surgery. It is hard at times but so worth it. I'm so happy with 59 lbs gone and looking forward to losing more in the coming months. I know you will too. Your pre op diet is very hard, it was the hardest part of all of this but if you stick with it, it is so worth it. You can do it.

Does it get harder or easier as day 3 approaches?

In theory, easier, but each day is a new adventure. I'm being banded on Wednesday. I too have a family that's constantly hungry and rely on me for meals. I almost killed my husband last week over broccoli! He ate my dinner and only left me a few sticks! Not fair! Anyways, it goes by quickly

That would be hard. I'm glad my kids are older and I told them and the hubby that they were on their own on cooking. So it helps to stay out of the kitchen. But yes is hard the first few days but it gets better. I have a shake for Breakfast and one for lunch and for dinner is lean chicken or fish with all the salad or fruit that i want to eat. The salad does not feel me so i eat 2 oranges and they fill me up :)

Carrie, make sure your Protein Shakes are loaded with Protein. Mine had 25 grams of protein when I did them, that will keep you statisfied longer and you won't feel like you are starving.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
