I feel the same way (with being in control and not in control). This is a wild process! I have days where I feel amazing and powerful and other days when I feel totally bummed out and slowing losing motivation. I have days where I'm happy and days where I'm extremely irritable. Days when I'm starving and days where I'm okay. In the end' date=' I am so happy about my decision to get banded and wouldn't have changed a thing!

Good luck to you! Keep your head up, this is a learning process! Everything will eventually fall into place for you![/quote']

Good luck to you as well....I agree that it is a learning process, I just get discouraged when I find myself slipping back into an old habit. I know that those empty calories that I occasionally find myself eating are hindering my progress toward my goals, both short term and long term. The fear is not in loosing the weight, but in my ability to maintain the weight loss. I have found this site to be really helpful as I really haven't shared my decision to be banded with anyone except my immediate family.:)

You pointed out something very powerful- that the fear is not in losing the weight but your ability to maintain the weight loss. Also, slipping back into your old habits. I feel the same way. I have been upset that the scale didn't move this past week for me, but I completely forgot to emphasize how amazing I have been doing on changing my habits. As many have pointed out to me, the scale doesn't always show what your habits are. In other words, it may take time for the scale to show the changes you have been making. I feel that changing your habits is the most important part of this! Of course we all want to lose weight as fast a possible and lose as much as possible, but it's the changing of our habits that will truly define our success with the band.

I'm sure you will the strength to push through the moments when you want to slip back into your old habits. I'm no pro when it comes to being banded (I'm only 1 month post-op) but if you ever want to just vent, talk, or whatever, please feel free to PM me on here! :) You can do it!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
